In a first strong indication of an imminent launch, Volkswagen India has updated its website with details of the new VW Touareg.
Regular Indian Autos Blog readers will find no reason to get excited as they were informed on September 10th that the launch was weeks away.
The latest generation VW Touareg was brought to the 2012 Auto Expo but since the showcase things have been low key at VW India. As the festival season brings plenty of cheer and positive customer sentiment and VW India may have found the time right to bring it back into the spotlight.
VW India has confirmed that the new Touareg will be equipped with a 3-liter diesel engine that outputs 245PS@3,800-4,400 RPM and 550Nm@1,750-2,250 RPM. It is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The charm of the redesigned exterior is accentuated by 18 inch "Karakum" wheels, roof rails, Bi-Xenon headlamps with cornering function and LED Daytime running lights.
The interior is trimmed in "Vienna" leather, "Vavona" ornamental wood are inserted around the cabin and it boasts of many gadgets including a premium multi function display, 14-way electrically adjustable front seats and a 6-CD changer and 8 speakers.
The Touareg is fitted with all sorts of safety features like Driver and passenger airbags, Side airbags front with curtain airbags for front and rear passengers, Electronic stability control (ESC), ABS with brake assistant, ASR, EDL and EDTC, to name a few.
