Nithyanandh K, As a toddler, those wheeled machinery fascinated me even before I knew what they’re called as! So here I'm, petrolhead by birth, Mechanical engineer by qualification and automotive reporter by profession!

Toyota Etios LivaToyota had announced that they have plans to bring out eight products for the emerging markets and we suspect most of them will be based on the OBE platform that underpins the Etios and Liva.

We have already brought you the news about an upmarket sedan and a hatchback based on that platform.

So what will be the other four products? We’ve just sniffed out a crossover! Toyota could easily come up with a Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster rivaling compact SUV with this platform.

There might be a compact MPV as well which could assist the Innova in the war against much cheaper MPVs like the Maruti Ertiga.

Speculations lead us to suspect that a compact low cost pickup truck is also on the cards, for Latin American markets.

Whatever may be those eight products, Toyota is keeping the cards very close to their chest and are letting the speculations brew.

The product offensive is expected to start from 2014 in a phased manner with the launch of a sedan and a hatchback based on the Dear Qin concepts and we may get further clues on the future products in any of the 2013 motor shows.
