This is good news as after a long pause, Tata has finally decided its time to field the Safari successor on the SUV-loving Indian market.

We first saw the Safari Storme at the 2012 Auto Expo following which we saw variants at the Defense expo which had bullet proof bodies.

According to our sources, the current Safari’s two top variants, GX and VX, have been phased out and the lower LX and EX will keep selling besides the new Safari Storme variants.

The Safari Storme will be sold in three variants, LX, EX and VX. We expect a hike of about 1.5 lakh rupees over the previous variants. The expected range is Rs. 10.5 to 13.8 lakh ex-showroom Delhi, but this is purely speculative at this moment.

Tata Safari Storme features

  • Music System
  • Power Steering
  • Power Windows with Auto-Up
  • Electronically Adjustable ORVM
  • Remote Centre Locking
  • Driver Seat Height and Lumbar Support
  • Engine Immobilizer
  • ABS with EBD
  • Wood and Chrome inserts on the interiors

The Tata Safari Storme is powered by a 2.2L 'VERiCOR' diesel engine armed with a new dual mass flywheel adopted from the Aria that cuts noise and vibration significantly. The front grille is inspired by Range Rovers and the vehicle is built atop the Aria platform, with all-new body panels, sporting completely redesigned interior.

Pre-launch bookings have already started in some parts of the country and this is expected to be the biggest Tata Motors launch for the festival season of 2012.
