In China, people love being chauffeured and hence want a really long car. Also, China is the largest car market in the world.
This has tempted many a carmakers like Audi, BMW, etc, to attempt a long wheel base version of their sedans especially to cater the Chinese customers.
After all, if you are a car maker who doesn’t listen to the requirements of Chinese, you better get ready to watch your rivals surge ahead.
Land Rover doesn’t have any sedans in their portfolio (that's left for Jaguar to fend) and the Indian owned British Marque couldn’t resist the temptation to stretch. This comes to light as the LWB version of the newly launched Range Rover was caught testing at the famous Nurburgring track with heavy camouflage.
However, rendering the LWB Range Rover was a child’s play to our in-house design specialist Sheob. He just saved Land Rover, the cost of camouflaging their LWB SUV on its next outing!
The Range Rover’s wheelbase is reportedly stretched by 150mm, most of which will contribute to the increase in the rear legroom.
While new standard Mk4 Rangie itself provides 118mm additional rear legroom when compared to its predecessor, the LWB version should offer business class comfort with a good view.
The engine options are not clear, but it’s speculated that Land ‘Limo’ Rover might get V8 motors.
With the LWB Range Rover, the British company will have the first mover’s advantage in its category and is expected to be selling the stretched SUV in China and Arab countries. India cannot be ruled out as well.
