Nissan has pulled the wraps on yet another exciting concept set to debut at Paris.

The Nissan Terra FCEV Concept is a zero-emissions, all-wheel-drive fuel cell vehicle. It is sized somewhere between the Skoda Yeti and Audi Q3. To explain it in the simplest way, it is a combination of a Nissan Leaf’s technology in the Nissan Juke’s body. It is has three electric motors powered by a hydrogen fuel cell stack located under the seats.

The regular Nissan Leaf’s motor drives the front two wheels. Each of the rear wheels has an in-wheel electric motor inspired by the ones fitted in Pivo city car concepts. However, while the Nissan Leaf is powered by a lithium ion battery pack, the Terra is a Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV). This means that propulsion comes from hydrogen fuel cell.

The key highlight of the exterior design are the suicide doors and the absence of B pillars. The interior design is a very futuristic blend of sculpted wood and acrylic. The instrument cluster is an iPad like monitor right behind the steering wheel. The front seats rail back and forth to give access to the rear.

Nissan believes that the Terra FCEV will attract youthful customers in Northern Europe. However, there are no plans of putting it into production any time soon. It still remains a design study to show Nissan’s aesthetic and technological prowess.
