Nissan Evalia graces the Indian market at 8.49 lakhs

A strong Toyota Innova challenger has graced the Indian soil. After much delay, Nissan India has taken the wraps of the Evalia for the Indian market.
The Evalia is presented in four variants (XE, XE+, XL and XV). The variant wise prices (ex-showroom, New Delhi) are as follows.

XE - Rs. 8.49 lakhs
XE+ - Rs. 8.92 lakhs
XL- Rs. 9.49 lakhs
XV - Rs. 9.99 lakhs
The Nissan Evalia was showcased to the Indian masses at the 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo. Since then, Nissan India has take a long time to launch it in the Indian market. The Japanese automaker was waiting for the festive season to gain maximum traction out of the launch.
The Evalia is a passenger application of the world renowned NV200 van. It is a seven seater MPV with two sliding doors (like the Maruti Suzuki Omni). In India, the Evalia will be powered by the proven 1.5L K9K engine generating 85 bhp and 200 Nm of Torque. The engine is mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox.
Keeping safety first, ABS and EBD are standard in all variants. To keep your wallet happy, the Evalia claims an FE of 19.3 kmpl, backed by ARAI.
Nissan India does not want to call the Evalia as an MPV; it refers to the Evalia as an ‘Urban Utility Class Vehicle’ – a product developed to meet versatile needs of an urban male. Because of its positioning, Nissan believes that the Evalia does not compete against the market leader Toyota Innova which is an MPV.
However, ‘mango people’ will not understand this difference and direct comparisons will be made between the Evalia and Innova. The Mahindra Xylo will also give Evalia a run for its money. It is very unjust to compare the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the recently launched Mahindra Quanto against the Nissan Evalia simply because the Evalia is a true 7 seater and not an extended 4 seater.
Nissan India plans to aggressive sell the Evalia by inaugurating 100 dealerships within 2012 and 50 additional dealers in 2013. Nissan is already running a 24×7 roadside assistance program in 1,681 cities all over the country, to appeal to the family car buyer.
