Hyundai is betting big on the HB model series in Brazil by giving them exclusive showrooms. The Toyota Etios is also expected to do well in Brazil for its price and brand reputation.

Honda needs to get the Brio to Brazil and fast if it has to participate in this growth story. Recent patent filing leaks reveal that Honda is doing just that!

Honda plans to manufacture the Brio in Brazil to keep cost low. The patent filings reveal the headlamps and the front bumper of the Brio.

According to the Brazilian media, Honda plans to manufacture the Brio in the Sao Paulo plant making Brazil the third destination in the world to manufacture Brio after India and Thailand.

To make room for the compact car, Honda will shift some part of the Honda City’s production to the Argentinean plant. The Sao Paulo plant currently produces 620 cars a day. The Japanese automaker has plans to expand it to 700 when the Brio is launched in Brazil.

The Honda Brio will be showcased at this year's edition of the Salon de l'Automobile in October. Later, it will be presented to the media for reviews and test drives. Production of the Honda Brio in Brazil should begin in late 2012 hinting at a launch early next year.
