Honda doesn’t have a diesel in their Indian lineup. As diesel engines hijacked Indian car buyers, Honda had to give up market leadership position with the City and Civic. The inventory pile up of petrol cars is giving sleepless nights to all manufacturers.

Recently a Honda Accord with generous splashes of chrome all around was spotted in a Chinese showroom which may not be a bad idea to launch here in India.

The status of the next generation Accord is unconfirmed, but there is a handful of Accord customers walking into dealerships every month.

The car is all shiny with the thick chrome outlining for the grille, a chrome strip below the fog lamps. The lustrous detailing doesn’t stop there. The window borders, door handles gets the chrome as well. And then there is a thin strip on either side of the rear bumpers. The tail lamps get it too.

Now that’s a lot of chrome!

New burgundy exterior paint and LED elements for the tail lamps sum up the visual changes.

The interior thankfully doesn’t get any additional chrome and remains unchanged. Chinese customers will find the Accord an engaging vehicle to drive, thanks to the paddles behind the steering wheel, that's available in India. The mechanical package will have no changes whatsoever until the 2013 model drives in.

Generally, adding chrome bits to the car makes it feel posh, but is that enough to keep going? Or will Honda be generous with their discounts as they are with the chrome treatment?
