But let’s say you are James Bond’s wife and you need a vehicle. Clearly, an ordinary station wagon is out of question and Aston Martin isn't making one anytime soon.

Worry not! Ford has come out with the Ford Mondeo Station wagon (a.k.a Estate variant) based on the Mondeo sedan. The good thing is that it will gel well with your husband’s Aston Martin simply because Ford’s new design philosophy is from the same page.

Nothing much changes in the exterior apart from the huge rear overhang. The Ford Mondeo Estate is a classic example of the style and practicality rolled into one package.

Engine options include the 1-litre Ecoboost engine which generates get a 123bhp and 170Nm of torque. A 2.0-litre and a new 1.5-litre TDCi diesels, plus 1.6- and 2.0-litre EcoBoost petrols are expected too. There are also talks of a hybrid variant using a 2.0-liter petrol engine and a 35kW lithium-ion battery

Six-speed manual gearboxes will be offered as standard. If you want an automatic, you can have a dual clutch six-speed Powershift transmission. Top end diesel will be offered with four-wheel drive for the first time.

Think your husband’s Aston comes loaded with technology? The Ford Mondeo is packed with technology such as Ford SYNC, MyFord Touch system, Lane-keeping System, Driver Alert, adaptive cruise control, blind spot information system and active park assist. Safety is also enhanced by inflatable rear seat belts.

So Mrs. Bond, when are you placing your order?
