General Motors India has reportedly kick started trial production of the Chevrolet Enjoy MPV at its Halol plant in Gujarat.

A factory worker on the condition of anonymity has spoken to a reporter in Business Standard revealing that series production will begin from December, and the market launch is by March 2013.

The Enjoy has been caught testing exactly 24,780 times by Indian Autos Blog readers in the last one year. The vehicle was among the brand new exhibits at Chevy's booth in 2012 Delhi Expo. A few months ago, GM India officials revealed the name 'Enjoy' at a function in Chennai.

The Chevrolet Enjoy will be powered by 1.4-liter petrol and 1.3-liter diesel engines borrowed from the Sail sedan. It was designed and developed in China, and sells as the Wuling Honguang. It is a product of the SAIC-GM-Wuling collaboration. Its suspension system was fine tuned by Lotus Engineering while GM engineers in India have been testing and adapting the low cost van to Indian road conditions and fuel preferences over the last year and a half.

GM is reportedly sold on the idea of pricing the vehicle aggressively to secure good market share. Its main competitor is the Maruti Ertiga (powered by the same diesel engine) that has a long line of customers waiting for delivery.
