The 1.5-liter diesel engine introduced on the Fiesta in India last year, makes 75PS on the facelift. Ford is continuing to extend the availability of the older 1.6-liter diesel engine in the UK tuned to produce 95PS and 200Nm.

Naturally aspirated petrol motors are also in the mix, a 1.6-liter Ti-VCT producing 105PS is listed below the Figo-era 1.25-liter petrol engine that makes 60PS and 82PS.

Ford claims to have developed new chassis and suspension parts after it recognized room for improvement in areas of ride quality and refinement. The electronic power steering unit has also witnessed changes.

For the UK market, Ford introduces 'SYNC' that connects the vehicle occupants to local emergency services operators after an accident. For the first time in its class, Ford is offering 'Active City Stop' technology, borrowed from the bigger Focus, that helps avoid low speed collisions by automatically applying the brakes in case of emergencies.

The feature is available as part of the Driver Assistance pack accessories, that also includes rear parking sensors and power-folding mirrors.

On higher variants, the headlights feature LED technology. Ford claims to have relocated some of the switch-gear, used new materials in the cabin, and has revised interfaces and displays.

The improved Fiesta will be available in the UK from early 2013. Prices range from £9,795 to £17,545 (8.47 lakh to 15.17 lakh) on-the-road.

Ford India has said it will follow its own lifecycle with the Fiesta, which puts the Indian introduction somewhere in 2014.
