Motor Vikatan has published a few pictures of Mahindra Mini Xylo under testing. This test mule was spotted wearing the old Xylo's front fascia. These spyshots reveal that the Mini Xylo has received additions to the body in the form of plastic claddings both in the front and rear.

The Mini Xylo now looks like a proportionately downsized Xylo, but connection continue to be made with the Wagon R.

With a generous cabin, a diesel engine, sub-4 meter vehicle tax benefits and Mahindra's low-cost maintenance reputation,  the mini Xylo is ticking all the right boxes in the cabbie's book.

If you have been regularly reading Indian Autos Blog, you may have seen us report that Mahindra's powertrain engineers were asked to come up with a more refined version of the 3-cylinder engine.

However there is something else we at Indian Autos Blog would like you to see. A document revealed on Team-bhp shows that the Mini Xylo would get a 1.5L mEagle turbo-diesel engine with 3 cylinders. If that's not making headlines to you, then we must tell you that the engine is twin-turbocharged and delivers 100hp@3,750rpm and a torque of 240Nm between 1,600-2,800rpm.

This makes the Mini Xylo the most powerful in its segment. This maybe the reason why Mahindra was testing the Mini Xylo for a very long time - to get the tuning right.

If the contents in the document are accurate and Mahindra decides to put the new engine in the Mini Xylo, we will be waiting to see which vehicle is next to receive this motor.
