Besides, we love the idea of designing a product exclusively for a part of the world.

After countless teasers, the HB20 is finally revealed in its full flesh. Carros.uol.com.br brings us exclusive images of the HB20 caught during its photoshoot on a street of Sao Paulo in Brazil. We must say that it is very aggressive and sporty, even more than its Indian cousin, the Hyundai i20.

We have been tracking the HB20 for a while now and we cannot stop talking about it. As the i20 is doing the job for Hyundai, the HB20 may have no future in India. The HB20 is like a Brazilian cousin of the Hyundai i20. It shares the same platform, more or less the same components but looks very different both on the inside and outside.

The HB20 is a 5 door hatchback featuring Hyundai’s ‘fluidic sculpture’ design. It will sport a 1L, 3 cylinder petrol engine with 80 hp or a 1.6L, 4 cylinder petrol engine with 130 hp. The engine is married to a manual gearbox or a four-speed automatic.

Hyundai HB20 features

  • Sound system with CD/AUX/USB
  • Tilt adjusted steering wheel with mounted controls
  • Power steering/windows/locks
  • Electrically operated OVRMs
  • Rear parking sensor
  • 15 inch alloy wheels with tires 185/60
  • Fog lights
  • Parking sensors
  • ABS is optional but driver and passenger airbags are standard across variants.

The Hyundai HB20 will be produced in the Sao Paulo factory in Brazil which has a production capacity of more than 100,000 units annually. It is expected to grace dealerships in Brazil in the first week of October and sold via all 130 outlets. The main rival to the HB20 will be the Toyota Etios and Fiat Palio.
