At the technical presentation of the European Skoda Rapid, a recent launch, Skoda's managers discussed the seating and layout of a Skoda car, when this mysterious image appeared.

2014 Skoda Octavia nose speculated

Attendees may have conceived this to be a wire diagram of a rolling VisionD prototype, but not our friends at Automobile Magazine France.

The eagle eyed Frenchmen were quick to spot disparities in the car's nose section. The VisionD or MissionL models have rectangular headlights and a symmetrically designed foglights. The vehicle presented at the assembly had different design characteristics. It sported boomerang style headlights, C-shaped fog light strip (possible made of LEDs), a steeply raked A-Pillar and a lengthened wheelbase.

2014 Skoda Octavia front end accidentally revealed

Automobile Magazine claims the face or front fascia of this model will feature on the next generation Octavia that is said to be among the debutantes  at the Geneva Motor Show in March next year. Skoda may style the front fascias of upcoming Skodas which include the next generation Fabia and a compact SUV similarly.

The new Skoda Octavia (Laura to Indian readers) is built on the MQB Platform, and will grow larger to avoid cannibalization with the newly launched Rapid sedan. The car will shed 80kg and will be powered by engines displacing 1.2-2.0 liters in naturally aspirated petrol, turbocharged petrol and turbocharged diesel avatars.

The new Octavia is expected in India in late 2013 or make its premiere at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. Skoda India may drop the Laura name and revive the Octavia nameplate on this new car.
