Since January 2008, when Tata unveiled the Nano, there hasn’t been a day when this car did not make it to the newspapers.

From after-market specialists rolling out body kits and special editions worth up to 20 crore, to Jay Leno procuring one for his personal collection, the Nano has been a true media magnet.

With the Nano DICOR (Haven’t read about it, click here) still in the testing phase, Tata had to keep the scoreboard ticking along. It launched the MY2012 edition with many improvements which revived sales from sub-1,000 units/month levels.

The work on the petrol variants isn't over yet. The festive season is another big opportunity to present something attention-grabbing.

Our friends at IndianCarBikes.in spotted in Pune, a version of what they claim in a special edition Nano based on the LX variant. The red and black two-tone color scheme, silver finishing on the ORVMs and door handles, and new design of wheel caps immediately stand out.

IndianCarsBikes.in expects the dual-tone Tata Nano to launch during the Diwali-Dusshera time. Could the special edition Nano incorporate a few features present on the Tata Nano Concept, showcased at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo?

We don't expect Tata Motors to make any further changes to the car's power, torque or fuel economy, which stands at an industry-leading 25.4 kmpl (ARAI certified).

Could the launch of the special edition be the right time and manner to announce the CNG variant, currently under testing?
