With the launch of the Force One, Force Motors forayed into the personal vehicle market. It seems that the Force One has bolstered the ambitions of Force Motors because the company is planning re-introducing the Gurkha in the Indian market.

If you don’t know what a ‘Gurkha’ is, we don’t blame you. It was not a very popular off roader in India. It was based on the Mercedes Benz technology with a Daimler engine. Sadly, it always was under the shadow of the Mahindra Bolero and Tata Sumo.

Moreover because of its crude nature, its net could be cast only over rural parts of India.  It was suddenly pulled out of the market three years ago with no reason given.

But now that Force Motors is focusing on passenger cars, it wants to bring Gurkha back in the game.

When it was on sale in the Indian market, the Force Gurkha was plagued by problems like lack of availability and substandard service back up. However, considering Force Motors is establishing new dealerships all over the country, the Gurkha has a much better chance of survival now.

We expect the 2.2 Liter OM611 engine to make it to the new Gurkha as well. This engine produces a peak power of 140 bhp and a peak torque of 320 Nm. Force Motors might pitch it against the Mahindra Thar and Maruti Suzuki Gypsy but there are better chance of survival if the new Gurkha is improved and pitted against the Mahindra Bolero – the best selling SUV in India.

Force Motors will also launch an 8 seater MPV to compete against the Toyota Innova, Mahindra XYLO and the upcoming Nissan Evalia.
