IndianAutosBlog were the first people in India to bring you uncamouflaged images of the Ford EcoSport testing on the Indian shores.

Now, our friends at MotorVikatan have presented a gallery of clear images of a different EcoSport mule testing in Chennai.

Call it confidence in the design or the effort to keep the spyshots flowing on the net, Ford has decided to ditch the camouflage. Anyways, such a striking design should not have been under a veil since the time Ehab Kaoud stood back to take in the sight of the first prototype!

The pictures reveal an almost production-ready car all set to hit the showrooms tomorrow. However, that may not be necessarily true. The Fiesta, before its launch, was spotted testing all over India for more than year. The Fiesta was tested for more than 10 lakh kilometers before making it to the showrooms. The EcoSport will undertake the same yatra before you can drive one.

Considering the EcoSport is a make-it-or-break-it model for Ford India, the company is not going to take any chances with a short cut to the production line.

However with the Renault Duster launch in sight, the clock is ticking for Ford India. There are murmurs in the market that the Duster is scheduled for a July first week pan-India debut. Our sources tell us that the EcoSport is a good 7 months away from its debut. Ford India would not want to the Duster to hog all the limelight.

Some relief comes from the fact that Renault India does not have a deep-rooted dealer presence and have unfond memories of selling a mass-market model - the Logan - through a joint venture in India. Ford India will most certainly count on its strong dealer network and technologies the car comes packed with, to attack the market.

Despite that, Ford will definitely lose out on the early buzz of the compact SUV era in India.
