Besides the launch of the next generation Endeavour that's undergoing development at Australia’s Broadmeadows design and engineering centre, the EcoSport mini SUV is also slated for a launch in Australia next year.

Ford EcoSport Concept rear three quarters

The mini SUV, according to a report on theWest.com.au, will grace Australian showrooms in early 2013 to give Ford coverage in three SUV classes (Escape and Kuga being the other two). The report fails to make mention of the manufacturing location, though India could do the honors from Chennai.

In 2012 Brazil will see the arrival of the EcoSport, currently undergoing testing, to replace the Figo-based predecessor. It will be manufactured at the Bahia plant with engines displacing 1.0-1.6-liters.

The EcoSport is a global model that will be launched not just in one or two markets, but 100 markets in all. In addition to getting a global model, we're also going to be exposed to a turbocharged petrol engine in an affordable segment for the first time.
