Mercedes Benz is yet again a victim of elusive spy photographers who today have managed to partially reveal the look of the next generation GL-Class while it was shooting for promotions/official press footage in an isolated stretch of road.

The design language is familiar to those who have seen the new ML-Class. It even bears a loose resemblance to the smaller GLK Class.

This new 7-seat GL-Class arrives in Indian showrooms next year through the CKD route. It will be assembled in Chakan, Maharashtra, a year after the assembly of the ML-Class begins, which should be around October 2013. The new GL-Class shares its platform with the ML.

Mercedes India could begin sending out cars to dealers months before the CKD operations start. This means selling CBU models at CKD price for the first hundred or so customers before beginning to deliver Chakan-built cars. This is the strategy the company is adopting with the new ML-Class that has already reached dealerships, six months before its start of production in Chakan.
