The current Mercedes E-Class dates way back to 2009, which means it is due for a facelift soon. Mercedes is planning a mid–life facelift for their popular executive sedan in late 2012 or early 2013. A test mule has been snapped doing its winter testing by our good friends at Autoevolution.

The test mule is heavily cladded in the front suggesting major update to the front fascia. It is expected to get a LED strip, modified headlamps and fog lights and airdam to make it look fresh. Speculations suggests that the front fascia will be heavily influenced by the Concept A Class.

The rear does not have any camouflage suggest minor or no change to the back end. The revamp will also include technical changes to the engine and transmission, but no information on that is available at this point. Mercedes could introduce the E-Class facelift in India about six months from the time of its international debut.

Mind you that this is only a facelift. An all new successor is planned after 2015 which is expected to have lightweight construction using carbon fibre. The all-new E Class will be loaded with technology and will be the brand’s halo car for the future.
