Nissan Evalia all set to challenge Innova in mid-August

Nissan Evalia at Auto Expo 2012Nissan christened the NV200 ‘Evalia’ for the Indian market at the 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo. The Japanese carmaker is tirelessly testing the NV200 for Indian roads since last year to make suitable modifications. According to Financial Chronicle, Nissan Evalia is expected to hit the stands by mid August 2012.

We had earlier told readers that the vehicle will be launched during August and the Evalia is the sole launch in 2012 for Nissan India.

The Evalia is a 7 seater MPV that will target the Toyota Innova for MPV dominance. The Evalia is an award winning MPV that boast of brilliant fuel economy, versatile interior with an array of sophisticated features such as Rear View Camera and Intelligent Key.  It will be powered by the same 1.5 L DCi engine with a modest output of 100hp and 240 Nm of torque.

Nissan India has been going strong in the recent months. The Japanese automaker will also double the production at their Orgadam facility to 4 lakh units from next month. A second production line will be operational at their Orgadam factory from March. This  plant currently supports Micra and Sunny as well as Renault’s Fluence, Koleos, and Pulse. The aim of this operation is to double exports. The demand for the Sunny diesel is the highest among all cars this year.

Nissan sold 22,022 units in the domestic market last year. The company has planned a 100% growth strategy for the current fiscal year. The Evalia along with diesel versions of the Micra and Sunny will help Nissan to achieve domestic sales of 40,000 units by the end of this fiscal year. The dealership network is also being ramped up to reach 100 outlets by next year, in time for the launch of the next small car, K2, based on the V-Platform.
