The Volkswagen stall at the Auto Expo saw intense action with the unveiling of the Beetle and Touareg. These vehicles reach the market in 2011 in a phased manner. The XL1, though perfect for the Indian customer with 100kmpl mileage, is not production-ready and even when it is, it will so be the Bugatti Veyron of fuel efficient cars, both on performance and price fronts.

The seemingly stock-looking Volkswagen Polo hidden away in a corner is more than what meets the eye. The front and interior are exactly that of the Highline trim.

Back at the rear, the story is not the same. A chrome strip and a chrome tipped exhaust pipe, which otherwise is hidden away under the car, are notable differences. Notice how the exhaust pipe cuts through the skirt. The display model sports a roof spoiler that's also not offered in India.

We haven't heard from Volkswagen until now on the identity of this car. Is this the MY2012 Polo? Is it a glimpse of the Volkswagen accessories? We've shot an email to VW India and hope the reply will bring answers! Stay tuned to IAB.
