Press Release

The class-leading and award-winning Mercedes-Benz C-Class has been enhanced with the addition of a limited edition model to its popular ranks. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sports Package is now on sale and offers customers even greater value, and is available in both four-cylinder C-Class models: the supercharged 135kW C 200 KOMPRESSOR and torque-rich but fuel-efficient 400Nm C 220 CDI turbo-diesel.

The C-Class Sports Package is available in both saloon and wagon.

The exterior enhancements include the radiator grille in matt brilliant silver finish with chrome inlays and central integrated three-pointed star in louvres, matching the sporty face of the popular Avantgarde model line.

Further differentiation is provided by the chrome highlights to front and rear bumpers, lower side of the doors between the wheel arches, boot lid handle and fog light surrounds. Further distinguishing this limited edition Sports Package are tail lights that feature a dark grey tint.

The Sports Package also receives unique alloy wheels (front - 225/45 R 17 tyres on 7.5J x 17 twin spoke alloy wheels and Rear - 245/40 R 17 tyres on 8.5J x 17 rear wheels).

The interior features a combination of ARTICO/fabric upholstery on both the front and rear seats, and this limited edition also features a double cup holder and stowage compartment in the rear central armrest.

The interior of the C-Class Sports Package is signed off with the inclusion of ambient lighting and aluminium trim.

The limited edition C-Class Sports Package is available in three colours: Obsidian Black metallic, Iridium Silver metallic and Calcite White (non-metallic).

Priced from $59,990 (for the C 200 KOMPRESSOR Sports Package saloon) this limited-run C-Class model delivers a greater-than $5,000 saving over a comparably equipped C-Class saloon.

Pricing for the limited edition C-Class Sports Package is detailed below:

Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sports Package Prices*

C 200 KOMPRESSOR Sports Package saloon- $59,900

C 200 KOMPRESSOR Sports Package estate- $61,800

C 220 CDI Sports Package saloon- $62,700

C 220 CDI Sports Package estate- $64,200

* Prices exclude dealer delivery and statutory charges

There is only one optional extra available for this limited edition model: a glass electric sunroof with tilt/slide functions. This is priced at $2,379 on the C 220 CDI Saloon and Estate and $3,093 on the C 200 K saloon and Estate. Because a higher Luxury Car Tax (LCT) threshold of $75,000 applies to the turbo-diesel C 220 CDI Saloon and Estate (they qualify for the “Fuel Efficient Car” category for consuming under 7.0L/100km) the price of this option is reduced as it does not attract LCT.

Commenting on this value-rich model, Horst von Sanden, managing director of Mercedes-Benz Cars in Australia, said that its arrival in showrooms was an extension of the customer value strategy that has been the cornerstone of the ongoing success the C-Class has enjoyed since 2007.

“We have the opportunity to offer our C-Class customers outstanding value with this tailor-made Sports Package on both C 200 K and C 220 CDI models, saving them at least $5,000 over a comparably equipped C-Class.

“The number of vehicles is limited and customer orders are already beginning to approach current and incoming stocks.

“The C-Class is our biggest selling model in Australia and it boasts a long trail of sales and award success both here and abroad.

“In line with these facts, this limited edition Sports Package version of the C-Class became the product of both Australian customer feedback and the various rationale used by industry experts when it has judged our car as best in class, including awards such as Wheels magazine’s Car of the Year,” concluded von Sanden.

The limited edition C-Class Sports Package is now available from authorised Mercedes-Benz showrooms.
