Toyota, which launched its Corolla Altis in the beginning of last month, is on a celebration mode. The Indian unit of the Japanese car maker has said that the new Toyota Corolla Altis has been successful enough and that it has posted record sales since its launch on September 5.

The Toyota Corolla Altis, which debuted in India in three variants, has during the first month of launch managed to lure enquiries from around 20,000 potential customers. The company has revealed that, the tenth generation Corolla has been seen by 70,000 people till date, with more than 2500 happy customers who have become a part of the Corolla Altis family.

Toyota Kirloskar had lifted the wraps off three Toyota Corolla Altis models, namely an economy model 1.8 G manual transmission car, an 1.8 GL manual transmission car with all the features incorporated, and an 1.8 VL with the features as well as auto transmission. The company has been selling the car for a price between Rs 10.83 lakh and Rs 12. 86 lakh.

The company believes that its integrated marketing strategy needs to be credited with the success of the Altis. The company had opted for a strategy that included internet marketing, SMS campaigns and mall displays around various locations in the country and most importantly displays at the Border-Gavaskar Trophy matches(India vs Aus test series),  where it thought had potential buyers.

IAB Comment- The Altis has established Corolla’s No.1 status in the premium sedan segment once again. Toyota has always set a benchmark in this segment with innovative luxury, comfort and performance, earning recognition from customers and critics alike over the years. With the Altis, Toyota has raised the bar for the entire segment. Enthusiastic Toyota Dealers have predicted similar or better sales figures for the coming months, and they say that the response, so far, has been extremely encouraging. We think that if you are looking at buying the Civic, then you might want to consider the Altis given the response it has evoked thus far in India.
