TKM launched the baap of all SUVs Land Cruiser back in June 2009. The car is brought from Japan as a built-up unit and sold for a price of around 1 crore rupees (on-road). Introduced internationally in 2008, the Land Cruiser turns four years old in 2012 and a mid-life cosmetic operation is in order.
Its younger sibling Fortuner has just returned from the surgeon’s clinic and the Prado switched over to the next generation in late 2009.
Brochure scans of what we believe is the Land Cruiser facelift are making their way through the internet, thanks to the uploaders at Prado-Club.su. It shows a the beast with new headlamps, chromed outside mirrors, new bumper with vertically stacked fog lamps and revised lower air intake. Interiors remain largely similar to the outgoing model with faux wooden inserts, in a brighter shade, on the steering and dashboard.

The Land Cruiser finds more aggression in the form of the 5,600 euro Delta kit
The 4.5-liter V8 turbo diesel engined Toyota Land Cruiser found another party wanting to customize it with flashy equipment
The transformation isn’t just skin deep. The ECU gets tweaked as well and the result is an added 36hp (322hp in all) and 80Nm of extra torque (720 Nm after modification)
Delta is also offering a high-performance braking system to compensate for the extra power, but that is completely optional. The ground clearance has been increased by 30mm and larger, flashy alloys substitute the stock wheels.
The total cost of the kit – A cool 5600 euro!

You all got it right! It is the Toyota Land Cruiser!
@niel – we will be driving the Fortuner shortly, so you can expect a report a little later
Recession or no recession, big, humongous SUVs will survive. They are like cockroaches. They can survive a nuclear attack and talk about it.
The King of the SUVs makes even the most respectable and rugged off-roaders in India seem like its queen. The big bad Toyota Land Cruiser is here in India and Toyota gave us a few days to flirt with this V8 diesel monster which could take on anything in its path.
Yet again, some Japanese car magazine’s published a computer-generated rendering of what they say could possibly be the 2010 Toyota Prado. We’re just hoping Toyota has nothing to do with this!
The current version of the Toyota Prado has been around for six years. With the new 2010 version, the company planned to give some tough competition to Audi Q5, BMW X3, and Mitsubishi Montero. Sadly, the rendered Prado shown here doesn’t look even half as good as the Mitsubishi Montero (no point comparing it with Audi Q5), and you wouldn’t be wrong if you call it a Tata Sumo Grande with an uglier Toyota Innova grille.
But then, one can never say, given the Prado’s superior off-road capabilities, looks wouldn’t matter that much to the Sheiks!
Have you ever associated a Toyota Land Cruiser to a ‘BLING’ Theme? Well, Wald International has done that, and ‘The Black Bison’ is the result.
In a world dominated by Cadillac Escalades, Hummers and Range Rovers, the good old Land Cruiser sure can pack a punch!
