Back at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, Tata Motors showcased the Prima concept sedan to the world. The concept was designed by Pininfarina and had striking character lines.
The sedan revealed Tata Motors’ ambitions to enter the D sedan market in India and Europe. The posed a huge treat to existing contenders such as Cruze, Corolla, Civic et all.
However, Tata Motors has decided to not put Prima in production and more importantly not to enter the D segment sedan market.

This is a very busy segment. The cars here are either CBUs or CKD/SKD kits that are assembled. We will find it difficult to compete in terms of scale and refinement.
The Indigo Manza will continue to be the most expensive sedan in the Tata Motors portfolio.

Tata Motors has sold 4 lakh sedans in India since the launch of the Indigo back in the early 2000′s. We’ve seen all kinds of variants over the years. The Indigo with turbocharger and intercooler, Indigo DICOR with the CRDI engine, Indigo CS with TDI engine, Indigo CS with DICOR engine, Indigo XL with DICOR engine, Indigo XL with a really responsive 100bhp petrol engine and all other Indigos except for XL with smaller petrol engines.
Two years ago the Indigo range expanded with the addition of Manza that comes with 1.3-liter diesel and 1.4-liter petrol engine. IAB was first to report on the Manza CS which should accelerate sales past 5 lakh units.

The latest Manza’s TV Ad maintains Tata’s reputation of making the best ads in the business. While the buzz has started to create ahead of the launch of 2009 Tata Indigo, IAB has always been the first to get you the latest happenings about the Tata Indigo right from the spy shots to the engine spec and design.
While the whole range of Fiat models and few chips of Tata Indica Vista is been outsourced from this plant, it is now reported that the all new Tata Indigo would roll out completely from Ranjangaon. As mentioned earlier it is believed that The new indigo will get a 1.4-litre 16 valve twin cam Fiat petrol engine and a 90HP Fiat’s Quadrajet motor which comes in the Linea.
Tata is now planning to launch all new Indigo, which is basically Indica with a boot, but there is quite a lot of difference this time though. The new Indigo wont merely be an Indica Vista with a boot stuck to its back but a thorough redesign to make it look more cohesive. The wheelbase will be extended and further more, it will get better engines (read Fiat engines). It is confirmed that the car will receive Fiat’s 1.4-liter petrol engine.
