Skoda launches Yeti in India – A go-anywhere Skoda Superb

The much awaited crossover-SUV from Skoda was officially launched in Delhi today. The launch ceremony happened at hotel Janpath, and unlike all other launches performances and flash lights are abound indoors indoors, Yeti stood covered, in a seemingly calm and cool manner in an open area. The surrounding area had a raw and rocky ambiance to enhance the background for the product.

The car was unveiled by Mr Thomas Kuehl, Board member & Director, Skoda Auto India. Mr Keuhl and as rightly pointed out by him, this wasn’t a launch ceremony, it’s instead a price unveiling ceremony. The Yeti had done away with its dust sheets in January at the Auto expo.

Official – Skoda to launch Yeti in Delhi on November 15

Skoda has issued launch invites for the much awaited Yeti to the media. The national launch of the vehicle will be held in Delhi on the 15th and deliveries should start almost immediately.

The Skoda Yeti will get a 2.0-litre common rail diesel engine belonging to the Volkswagen family currently being used on the Skoda Laura automatic and the flagship Superb. This engine generates 140bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. Power is fed through a 6-speed manual transmission and then through a fourth-generation Haldex Traction multi-plate clutch that distributes drive to all four wheels.

The feature list is almost endless for this 15+ lakh SUV. Corner function for fog lamps, hill descent control and VarioFlex seating system are a few of them.

The Skoda Yeti is arriving in India over the next few weeks and it will have a 2.0-liter diesel engine currently being used on the Skoda Laura automatic and the Superb. The car was recently introduced in Poland and their television Ad is short but effective.

Skoda India is gearing up for the launch of SUV Yeti in June-July, this year. The Yeti would compete head on with the European and Japanese mid-size sedans. Yesterday, Skoda India organized the ‘Yetival’ at the nation’s capital, an informal tweet up session for car enthusiasts, online bloggers, social networkers and other automobile aficionados.
