Update – Hindustan Motors replied to our query on the price update. There is no change in price, it remains at 41.34 lacs ex-showroom Delhi.
Hindustan Motors has introduced a mildly updated Mitsubishi Montero MY2012 with a host of visual changes including a modified front bumper, new chrome radiator grille, new finish on power window panel and new stitch design on leather seats.

The interior illumination colour has been switched from blue to red. There have been no changes made under the car’s skin with the 3.2-liter diesel engine producing 202 PS@3,800 rpm/441 Nm@2000 rpm continuing to provide motive force. Three colors are offered to customers in India including solid white, black mica and cool silver metallic shades.
Japanese automaker Mitsubishi has unleashed a refreshed Pajero (Montero to India) in Malaysia with mild cosmetic revisions. The front bumper and grille have been reworked to look continuous, the roof rails are redesigned, new skid plates are installed and the new 18 inch wheels, like those you see on the Tata Aria add visual oomph to the Pajero/Montero.

Interiors receive a fair share of goodies with red illumination for the dashboard, rear view camera, a display integrated into the auto-dimming mirror, electrically powered leather seats, auto leveling HID headlamps, 12-speaker 860 watt Rockford Acoustic surround sound system, auto climate control and rear AC with independent controls.
On the updated model, Mitsubishi has added brake override system that cuts power to the engine when the brake and accelerator is applied simultaneously.
The new Pajero is available in four colors – Quartz Brown Metallic, Black Mica, Cool Silver Metallic and Warm White Mica.

Mitsubishi’s step motherly treatment towards the Indian Auto market continues. Although the title may suggest something very exciting, it is actually the same old car that has been made BSIV compliant and a little bit of tinkering here and there.
The Mitsubishi Montero was never exactly a sales chat hit, if fact you will be lucky to see one on a regular day. To be precise in numbers, 22 vehicles sold so far in the past eight months. We have no doubt about the capability of the SUV, but we doubt the commitment of the manufacturer towards the market.
Enough with the old ranting and let’s look at what’s new in the car:
The 3.2L engine has been made BSIV compliant by adding a new catalytic converter and swirl control bulb addition. In the process they have jacked up the power by 25.9bhp, taking it right up to a grand total of 144.9bhp. Torque has also been improved to 45kgm of max torque at 2000rpm.
The front and the rear bumper have some minor (make that hard to find) changes. The new Montero will sport a heft price tag of Rs 38 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
With 200hp and revised technology, the new Mitsubishi Montero is better car overall
Good news for all those who are looking forward to some ‘serious’ off-roading in their Montero.
The all-new Mitsubishi 3.2 DI-D Montero is going to give its customers the power of 200 horses. This completely revised version of Mitsubishi Montero will be out in international market shortly. The existing Mitsubishi Montero delivers some 165 PS.
Mitsubishi also claims that this vehicle will consume 17% less fuel than its predecessor and is of course a 4×4 equipped vehicle.
The extra 35 odd hp comes thanks to modifications to the bearings, cylinder heads, pistons, connecting rods, camshaft, valve train, oil pump, turbocharger, injection system and ECU. The maximum torque available is 441 Nm at 2,000 rpm. The vehicle is available in both manual and automatic variants.
