Audi India launched the Q5 here in Mumbai this afternoon. This sporty SUV is the smaller sibling to the mighty Q7, recognizable by the similar tough-and-tidy looks. The launch function was conducted at the Audi lounge at India Bulls and Managing Director of Audi India Mr Benoit Tiers, donning an elegant suit with a sparkling red tie presided over the event.

The prices for the Q5 are quite attractive starting at INR 3,829,000 for the 2.0 TSI (petrol) and 4,419,000 for the 3.0 TDI (diesel). This vehicle would be available in five vibrant colors

Audi expects to sell 100 Units of the CBU this year which should not be a difficult task after seeing its multi-fold growth pattern from the time of its arrival in India.

Honestly, we’re sick of writing about Toyota’s Fortuner. We’ve been writing from it since the inception of Indian Autos Blog and other have been writing for years. I think the Fortuner has parks in a space in all our minds marked as a “future car.” I think people won’t believe that the car can be bought even after it has been released. Such is the perception it has created.

However news on the Land Cruiser diesel is new. All of the Land Cruisers in India have been imported via agents and its formal introduction will help source spares faster and easier.

A 4 litre, V8 diesel engine pumping out 286PS of peak power at 3600rpm and 650Nm of torque at 1600rpm will employ a 6-speed automatic transmission and 4WD system. The diesel Toyota Land Cruiser will be a CBU so don’t expect it to cost lesser than the Merc, Volvo and BMW SUVs.

There’s so much AMG related content on IAB today. First there was the AMG pack for the upcoming E-Class. Then the shiny C63 AMG, and now this.

Mercedes Benz India Limited has sent us a few images of the drive that preceded the AMG launch, which was held at the DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurgaon last year. It was a glitzy launch function, but all we got to see until now was a small image with a car and 2 unidentifiable women on either sides.
