Korean carmaker Hyundai has made grand plans to rival Japanese car major Toyota’s iQ. The iQ is among the smallest cars you can buy off a showroom, whose concept was introduced back in 2007 at a glitzy Frankfurt Motor Show in 2007.

Sources in Hyundai have revealed the car will look simpler but will be more functional. This gives rise to doubts whether this is the small car which Hyundai will position under the Santro in India in 2011.

“It would be sort of modular and minimalist in a Citroën 2CV kind of way,” he added. That’s a big indication that yes, something simple is coming from Hyundai’s house and after knowing how Indians have received the i10, this may be another blockbuster. Chances are this car will be produced only in India, just like the i10, but that’s just a calculated guess from us here at Indian Autos Blog.

Japanese car manufacturer, Toyota has revealed its plans to bring the iconic Landcrusier (showcased earlier at AutoMall Delhi ’09 this month) to the Indian Market. A Senior Toyota official said that they will be launching the Landcrusier soon this year.

The Japanese car giant Toyota, recently showcased its refreshed 2010 Camry at the Detroit Auto Show.

The differences compared to the existing Camry is not that much- a new bumper with bigger air intakes, more sharply designed headlamps and foglamps, 16-inch wheels and the grille receives more chrome work.

Popular Japanese bike maker – Yamaha, which has created shock-waves in the Indian Two-wheeler segment, will unveil its own showroom in Mumbai, which will be named as – ‘The Bike Station’. This new Bike Station is expected to foster Yamaha’s physical presence at dealerships that already exist in other major Indian cities. The new Mumbai Bike Stations are to be located at Bandra and Malad West.

Mitsubishi plans to launch the Lancer Cargo next year in Japan, which is said to be the rebadged version of Nissan ADvan. The Cargo unlike the misleading name suggests is not only focused to be a parcel van but also to be a spacious Family Station wagon.

The Japanese carmaker – Toyota Kirloskar is all set to launch its popular MUV in India – Toyota Innova in CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) version by end – January 2009, hoping to stir demand amid sagging sales. The company is also conducting trials of Innova CNG.

Although Nissan may be lagging behind its cross-country rivals in hybrid technology, the Japanese automaker is moving full steam ahead with with its electric vehicle plans. Nissan is just as ready to do battle on this front as well (after the famous GT-R & Porsche Nurburgring row)

“The difference is that we have made different choices. Several automakers chose to experiment with hybrid vehicles, but everyone knows this technology is only transitional. We have concentrated on what we believe to be the real solution in the future, electric cars. And from this point of view, our technology is already well established,” claims Nissan’s spokesperson.
