Looks like Yamaha could pip Honda in making the world’s first hybrid motorcycle.

Introducing the Yamaha-Toyota “Prius” powered by a 20bhp petrol engine coupled to an electric motor.

The hybrid motorcycle dubbed Prius, will use a water-cooled engine – the 250cc horizontal single-cylinder through a smart ECU, sends power to the wheels and the generator, which will give the battery juice.

The vehicle is still in the testing phase with improvements incorporated based on the continuous feedback.

Japanese car manufacturer Toyota is showcasing the Prius at the 18th International Engineering and Technology Fair (IETF) held at Bangalore. Speaking to the media, the senior representative from Toyota confirmed the launch date of their all-new small car, which will roll out in both petrol and diesel variants, during the course of next year.

The launch of the Facelifted 2009 Mercedes S-Class may be just a few months away, but that does’nt stop the German car giant from making a new S-Class model for 2010 ! Rivalry the way we see it, it just hotting up between the Mercedes S-Class and BMW 7-Series.

Honda has recently slashed the price of India’s first hybrid car, which is the biggest discount (40%) in Indian automotive history. The Civic Hybrid is now cheaper by almost Rs 8 lakh (USD 17,000). This puts it at Rs 13.36 (USD 27,000) Lakh instead of its earlier asking price of Rs 21.50 lakh (USD 44,700). That is a significant amount.
