Porsche India has slated plans to bring its four door coupe -Panamera here by September this year. Panamera, which will make its first public appearance at 2009 Shanghai Autoshow, will be released in International markets this summer, and come to India for a final stopover.
The BMW X3 has been declared as the Most relaible vehicle on German roads for the second consecutive year.
The result is based on the evaluation of over 2 million cases drawn from German breakdown statistics as well as a customer satisfaction study conducted on 43,000 participants.
The German car manufacturer – Bavarian Motor Works (BMW) today announced axing work hours at four of its main production facilities in Germany due to sick economic conditions.
BMW Indian operations in Chennai, gets the 3-Series in a box from one of these plants and puts it together locally. Although BMW India projects a 100% increase in sales, 3,000 or 4,000 cars annually would do little in forcing the German plants work longer hours.
‘German Luxury Car Trio’ Audi, BMW & Mercedes, are ready to unleash Blitzkreig with each other’s ‘Dictators Cars’ (High-end luxury cars). BMW has already revealed its New 7- Series and Mercedes is slowly but steadily bringing its 2010 S-Class close to completion. Not surprisingly, Audi is also at work designing and testing its flagship A8 luxury sedan set to be released in 2010. The designers of the A8 in a new ‘avatar’ are expected by Audi to keep the looks fresh in the market to compete its rival counterparts – Mercedes-Benz S class and BMW 7 series.
Notwithstanding the slowdown in the automobile industry, German luxury car manufacturer Audi had an ”exciting time” last year in India, with sales in the country increasing a whopping 201% (1,050 units sold in 2008 as opposed 349 units sold in 2007)
The Swedish carmaker – Volvo has also now taken the ‘Long wheelbase route’(like its German counterparts), by launching its S80L In Chinese market. The S80L is essentially a Long wheelbase – Limousine version of the Volvo S80. It is a full 140mm longer than a standard S80, with all the extra length dedicated to increasing rear legroom.
The German car-maker Porsche quietly unveiled its popular SUV Cayenne with Diesel engine option in Europe, where it will go on sale in February 2009. Porsche has never in its 60-year history used a Diesel engine, except for its tractors!
The computer generated images of the next generation BMW 3-Series(above), made its debut appearance in the German AUTO ZEITUNG magazine. Chris Bangle’s creations certainly have a good road presence, and this rendering is no exception.
