Rendering – Next generation Fiat Palio

Cars are growing bigger in size. Part of the reason is safety, as thicker and wider steel and iron sections become unavoidable in making a safe car.

Maybe the size of the average man has also got to do something, which we are not able to verify at this moment.

Then of course there is space and comfort. Almost every car in India today is bigger than what it was previously. The Indica, Alto, Verna, Laura have grown in dimensions and there is nothing wrong in saying the future models will marginally grow.

Someday in the future, the Fiat Palio will be born, again. It will be bigger, more stylish, more powerful and more fuel efficient. It will be more comfortable, more spacious, more stylish and more popular among Indian buyers.

Well, maybe.

The future Fiat Palio should utilize the services of the Multijet 2 engine, which if reports can be trusted, debuts on the Fiat 500C this year.

The Fiat Palio Stile 1.3-Multijet is one of the finest hatchbacks that can be bought if you are after driving pleasure (If you are in need of some confusion trouble-free, economical car you can try choosing between the Ritz and the Swift in the Maruti stable).

The 75 bhp CRDI unit transforms the Palio into a pocket rocket. Darting through gaps in traffic and touching three figures on the highway is all in the day’s work for this Fiat and is quite economical too, being a diesel. The NVH, steering response and Italian styling (minus the dashboard) puts this car in my dream garage.

Fiat 500C Official Images

Fiat will take the wraps off of the new Fiat 500C (Fiat 500 Cabriolét) at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show next month, before its European launch in spring. But as IAB mentioned in a previous post, the official pictures had to be revealed today invariably.

Size wise, the Fiat 500C is the same as the Fiat 500 Hardtop and comes with the same engine options: 1.3L 75-Bhp Multijet Turbodiesel and the two 1.2L 69-Bhp and 1.4L 100-Bhp Petrol engines, mated to either manual or a Dualogic automatic transmission. The only difference being, an electrically-powered soft top.
