Hyundai increases manpower to cope with i20 sales

Hyundai i20 has been on sale for just a month, the company says the i20 has given Hyundai a wonderful new year, amidst the economic crisis. The i20 which surprised Hyundai with phenomenal record sales, is now spreading good news to employees too. The i20 sales has gone to the extent that Hyundai was forced to recall 100 of its trainees that were discontinued in December due to the ongoing credit crisis.

As an effect of the sharp drop in cargo movement, truck sales plunged 73.5% to 6,221 units in December 2008 against 24,222 units in December 2007, according to the Indian Foundation of Transport Research and Training (IFTRT) The decline in truck sales is also said to be due to
excess capacity build-up.

* Tractor-trailers of 30-49 tonne range witnessed a maximum drop of 94.7 per cent in December sales at 114 units (2,143 units) – Mostly used to transport high-density cargoes such as cement, fertilizer, timber, ores and steel predominantly to railways for further transportation.

* Sales of Multi-axle vehicles of 25.2-31 tonne sunk 79 per cent to 2,033 units ( 9,587 units).

* Affected by the infrastructure projects in abeyance, sales of Tipper trucks used mainly in construction dipped 73 per cent to 1,462 units (5,358 units) – Virtually due to stoppage of construction and infrastructure projects in many parts of the country in the last three months in the wake of financial crunch.

General Motors has announced that the launch of their new small car Chevrolet Beat will be deferred by a period of at least 6 months.

Chevy’s Beat concept has been put on display in several Auto Shows around the globe through the recent years, but the production version has not yet been unveiled by the company

Facelifted Hyundai Sonata goes on Sale in China

IAB in November 2008 “Revealed the Facelifted Hyundai Sonata” Now, Hyundai has officially launched its flagship sedan model Sonata (”Ling Xiang”) in the Chinese market yesterday. Hyundai Motors, said in a statement that the move is part of an effort to woo customers in China. The launch of the China-made Sonata sedan comes early as many analysts expect Hyundai to miss this year’s sales target there.

Chevrolet’s European division has confirmed that the upcoming Chevrolet Cruze’s debut in the European market will remain as per schedule. Its expected to make its European debut in April 09. The company expects to sell about 20,000 to 25,000 units in first year after its launch.

Mercedes-Benz AMG Range- Now in India!

Mercedes-Benz India presented its AMG range of performance cars in India at the DLF Golf and Country Club, Gurgaon. The mean machines from the Mercedes-AMG range have made their mark on and off the racing circuits worldwide and are now (surprisingly in these troubled times of recession) making their appearance in the Indian market, just the way we predicted its December coming.

German car manufacturer Mercedes Benz (A part of Daimler Chrysler) is planning to launch its hyper-performance AMG (Aufretch Melcher Grobaspatch) models in Indian market by the end of this year. AMG is a wing of Mercedes Benz which procures the stock cars from the parent company and customizes it, adding visual enhancements and power.
