Having lost track of the number of time we’ve brought you this vehicle before, it was decided that it is best to move on to the fresh information that has emerged on the 2010 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado.

The new Land Cruiser Prado, whose interiors were spied recently was photographed in a dealer lot, signifying its not so far away official announcement. The front grille, headlamp, bumper and tail lights have been altered.

This car with these body graphics looks like an animation character ready for a parade. Hope only its looks have been softened and not its capabilities.

The new version carries over the same 4.0-liter V6 engine from the outgoing car. Rumor has it the new Prado will harness power from the 4.6-liter V8 engine which at present serves the Land Cruiser.

Even better.

The cat is out of the bag. The 2010 Toyota Prado, among the cars we are tracking vigorously, has been caught undisguised. The revised headlamps, bumpers and tail lights suit the tall and muscular Prado which is more in line with cars like the Avensis in the Toyota range.

We are waiting for the engine and gearbox options. Toyota is tight lipped about the details. In India, the Prado come only with a petrol engine.

More to come very very soon.

Enjoy the images.

Spied – 2010 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado

We’ve brought you two renderings of the 2010 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado in the past. The 6-year old SUV is due for a thorough makeover, the latest edition has a different design to it from what we can see.

The 2010 Toyota Prado would contain all the genes of a Land Cruiser, off-roading capability an inherent quality. As such, no news on the new Prado’s engine or gearbox, but we’re expecting powerful diesel and petrol units derived from the current line-up.

Rendering – 2010 Toyota Prado

Yet again, some Japanese car magazine’s published a computer-generated rendering of what they say could possibly be the 2010 Toyota Prado. We’re just hoping Toyota has nothing to do with this!

The current version of the Toyota Prado has been around for six years. With the new 2010 version, the company planned to give some tough competition to Audi Q5, BMW X3, and Mitsubishi Montero. Sadly, the rendered Prado shown here doesn’t look even half as good as the Mitsubishi Montero (no point comparing it with Audi Q5), and you wouldn’t be wrong if you call it a Tata Sumo Grande with an uglier Toyota Innova grille.

But then, one can never say, given the Prado’s superior off-road capabilities, looks wouldn’t matter that much to the Sheiks!
