Thanks to our friends at Alvolante, a leading online portal in Italy, we’re able to bring you the first look of the 2010 Suzuki Swift‘s interiors.

Upon elaborate inspection, I figured the new Suzuki Swift‘s dashboard is slightly more ordered. The centre stack is clearly visible and the steering wheel is more Chevrolet.

The AC vents have a different shape, the gear knob is the same and a compact twin dial layout replaces three dials. The new Swift’s dashboard lacks a digital clock but a LCD screen is the new addition.

The new Suzuki Swift based on a new platform, according to media reports debuts at the Paris Motor Show later in the year. It could come to India in the first quarter of 2011, but how Maruti will position this hatch remains a mystery. Chinese publications have also hinted the sedan version of the new Swift by the end of this year for international markets.

From limited vision this is all I can figure out. Existing Swift owners, why don’t you give me a hand in completing this comparison.

The 2010 Suzuki Swift has been a constant source of interest for us since the first set of spy shots emerged. Caught testing here again, we can confirm one thing – the pull back headlamps extend till the top of the wheel arches quite like the design procedure Tata adopted on the new generation Indica Vista.

The body structure of the 2010 Suzuki Swift is said to have been modified to open up extra interior room. There could also be battery pack accommodation behind the move given the Swift’s moderate boot volume. The outline of the car from the side and rear view don’t reveal anything suspicious. Suzuki is staying with the current body style.

The new 1.2-liter K-Series engine is expected to do perform duty under the 2010 Swift’s bonnet while the diesel lover enjoys the services of Fiat’s 1,300cc Multi-jet engine. Overseas, a host of engines including a new 1.5-liter CRDI engine from Fiat is rumored. There’s also the hybrid powertrain and the CVT option for the American and Japanese customer.

Suzuki is preparing the next generation Suzuki Swift for autumn launch next year. The existing model was launched back in 2005 and immediately went on to win the COTY award.

Viewing various spyshots captured over the last few months, one understands the new Swift will rely heavily on the outgoing model for inspiration. It doesn’t have look elsewhere for that. Swifts account to 40% of Suzuki sales in Europe and is the best selling model in UK.

The new face of Suzuki will feature on the Swift after it debuted on the Kizashi. Suzuki is also planning to use the Swift to provide the world with an affordable hybrid car. It has shown a mock-up of the Suzuki Swift plug-in hybrid at the Tokyo Motor Show last month.

For India, the new Suzuki Swift is expected to come with with the 1.2 K-Series petrol engine. Suzuki could continue the Multi-jet engine and supplement it with more powerful engines like the 1.5 liter CRDI unit.

Internationally, 1.3, 1.5 and 1.6L petrol engines are expected to make the cut. Japanese customers are used to AWD models and for that market, Suzuki will offer the 1.6L VVT engine delivering 125 bhp with AWD.

Suzuki has also introduced hybrid system on the Swift. Operated solely on battery, the hybrid Swift can travel 20 km. This model could come at a later date, possibly in late 2011 or early 2012.

Suzuki will formally launch the new Swift during the Paris Motor Show in the second half of 2010.
