Modified Lancer – For the guy who can’t wait for the EVO

Even after the Mitusbishi Lancer has almost gone off the shelves of the showrooms, one particular Lancer simply wouldn’t go off its owner’s heart. That is why he has gone to great extents to painstakingly modify his ride into the mean machine you can see in the picture above.

Modifying a car requires immense dedication and attention to detail. And of course a very deep pocket. The car has been given a major revamp to make this seventh generation mundane Lancer challenge the soon to be launched Lancer Evo X?

This featured Lancer has been completely modded under the hood, over the hood, inside, outside and pretty much every side that the car has. The result is a terrific machine which looks more like the iconic Godzilla (last gen Nissan GT-R) than a showy modded Lancer.

The car’s engine has been given new manifolds, headers, and a K & N Performance air-filter to boost performance. The exteriors of the car have been done up very well with sporty bumper up front and back and a very glossy black paint job. The yellow strip which runs on the side exudes some understated sportiness without being brash.

The CCFL (Cold cathode fluorescent lamp) headlamps look really stunning and LED tail lamps adorn the rear. The car runs on massive 17″ wheels sporting Yokohama S-Drive 205/45R17 low-profile rubber.

The car’s interiors has been tastefully done and the starter button on the gear knob is a nice touch.

The car has been fitted with an earth-shattering entertainment system with a Pioneer 4150 DVD system delivering pounding music through Ground Zero 6.5″ speakers at front, Earthquake 6×9″ speaker at the rear, two amplifiers and two Ground Zero sub-woofers. There is also a Sony Playstation2 installed in the car.

The party trick (literally) in this car is a LCD screen in the boot which can be seen when the boot is open. The car also sports underbody LED serial lights (a la ‘The Fast and the Furious’).

Seems like the modifications itself could have cost as much as brand new Lancer.

Skoda Fabia Sportline introduced in Czech Republic ahead of India

The Skoda Fabia Sportline has been introduced in the Czech Republic, ahead of its Indian appearance later this month. The Sportline is essentially a visually and mechanically enhanced Skoda Fabia.

Lumma Design tunes BMW X6 for Geneva Motor Show

BMW launched the X6 ‘Sports Activity Coupe’ in India this morning. For the prospective buyer who thinks that the X6 is too subtle and understated, help is at hand from Lumma Design.

Lumma design offers a complete X6 upgrade package codenamed CLR X 650 GT slated for launch at Geneva Motor Show.

Fiat Grande Punto Abarth Supersport at Geneva next month

Wow! We had the Fiat Grande Punto Abarth and that was awesome. Now we have the Fiat Grande Punto Abarth SuperSport version which is expected to debut at Geneva.

The Fiat Grande Punto Abarth Supersport is powered by a 1.4-liter 16-valve engine, and puts out an amazing 180bhp and 270 Nm of torque from just 3000 RPM.

The SS can hit a 100 kmph in just 7.5 sec and go all the way up to 215kmph! Those are great figures for a hatchback.

The soundtrack consists of a variable backpressure dual-mode exhaust system that comes into play above 4000 rpm. The Fiat Grande Punto Abarth SuperSport is also equipped with cross-drilled brake discs and high-performance front brake pads.

A special Grande Punto Abarth “SuperSport” is making the scene at Geneva, garbed in Airfield Gray paintwork – the same color sported by the Scorpion’s historic racecars, and, as the story has it, taken from the planes based next to the brand’s original headquarters – enlivened by a racing-inspired livery. Equipped with a 16-valve 1.4 liter engine pumped up to deliver 180 horsepower, with a wrenching 270 Nm peak torque at speeds as low as 3000 revs, the Grande Punto Abarth “SuperSport” racing version hits a top speed of 215 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in only 7.5 seconds. In addition, a variable backpressure dual-mode exhaust system enhances engine sound, producing a distinctive throaty roar over 4000 rpm. With performance features like these, there can be no doubt that this is a car whose whole heart and soul is in racing.

The kit puts the car into a real sprinter’s crouch, dropping its roll center by 20 mm. Just as important, the brake system features cross-drilled discs all round, together with high-performance front brake pads.

On the inside, the showcar boasts Sabelt Abarth Racing leather-upholstered seats – lightweight and track-approved, as befits the car’s sporting spirit – and the Abarth Blue&MeTM MAP satellite navigator with telemetry capabilities developed with Magneti Marelli. This innovative device provides four different functions. Irmscher Chevrolet Captiva

German tuner Irmscher, to make it more pleasing to the eye, has added visual enhancers to the Chevrolet Captiva and we have to hand it to them, they have done a good job. The engine does not get a bump in displacement, neither have the electronics been fiddled with.

The Irmscher kit can be bought along with the Chevrolet Captiva at the Chevrolet dealership itself abroad.

BMW Performance kit for 335i and 135i debuts at Geneva Motor Show

The Performance kit for the twin turbocharged straight six 3.0-liter engined BMW 335i and BMW 135i will debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month. When equipped, the engine makes extra 20 hp to total to 326 hp, and extra 50 Nm to 450 Nm. That’s not it, a more sportier cockpit, suspension, and better aerodynamics make the cars reach 100 kph in just 5.4 seconds.

BMW M3 tuned by G-Power

Here is a souped up version of BMW’s popular sports coupe, M3 which is super tuned by G-Power. The production M3 model has 420 bhp but in stage 1, the Compressor system EVO-SK I adds another 105 bhp which makes a total of huge 527bhp. Here we brief you on the modifications done on the 1st and 2nd stages.

BMW M3 G-Power Stage 1 modifications-

Supercharger lubrication through bypass from motor oil circuit
Ultra stiff CNC shaped supercharger bracket system made from aluminium pneumatic controlled, engine load related boost control

Hurricane M5 RS beats Brabus CLS Rocket as world’s fastest saloon

The German Wars have begun. The race for the worlds fastest street legal sedan has just begun. The German tuning firms Brabus and G-Power are the contenders and if you follow the auto world more closely, you should be able to remember the Brabus Rocket based on the CLS that managed 365kmph.

First, G-Power unveiled its 225mph (360km/h) Hurricane M5, based on the BMW M5. That car used a pair of turbochargers on the M5′s V10 to lift power by almost 50% to 730 horses. That’s a lot for the M5!

Then Brabus came along with its Rocket based on the CLS coupe with a bored out Twin Turbocharged V12 that propelled the car to 227mph (365.7km/h) much to the consternation of G-Power. Now, however, G-Power has reclaimed the title for the world’s fastest street-legal sedan with the unveiling its its new G-Power Hurricane M5 ‘RS’.

The new Hurricane RS takes power in the M5 from the already insane 730hp to an even more insane 750 horses. With just a 20hp increase, the Hurricane RS was able to reclaim the title of the fastest sedan back from Brabus, posting a top speed of 228.3mph (367.4km/h) at its test track.

The extra 20 horses were found by increasing the boost levels on the turbochargers, however according to G-Power there is further room to up the boost – something the company may keep in reserve once Brabus unveils its next monster.

IAB Comment: We are expecting a befitting reply from Brabus soon. The BMW M5 is available in India, which should permit you to buy it and try taking on G-Power and Brabus
