Our friends at GoaonWheels, have managed to snap up the car at Alcon Mercedes-Benz, the sole dealer for Mercedes cars in Goa.

The all new Mercedes M Class dons the new Mercedes design language that was showcased on the SL for the first time. It is an S Class of its SUV range here in India because of the features that it offers.

It’s been a while since IndianAutosBlog.com brought its readers a nice, juicy scoop. Today we’re putting an end to that dry run by presenting photographs and a video of the B-Class testing in India. This is the first instance of a website publishing evidence of these test mules in India but it will come as no surprise to IAB readers that the B-Class has begun testing.

Indian Autos Blog was the first to report that Mercedes Benz India is introducing the B-Class as a “Sports Tourer” earlier this year and days later got it confirmed by the top management.

Mercedes BLC concept or Mercedes GLC conceptThe BMW X1 is a pain in the neck for most luxury brands in the world. It offers so much value for so little price. While BMW X1 established its leadership prowess on this entry level crossover, other German brands had to play catch up in the entry level crossover market. Audi was able to roll out the Q3 without much delay.

However Mercedes is taking its own sweet time to develop its contender to the market. The latest news is that the three pointed star will roll out the crossover by the second half of 2013.

Mercedes Benz could have as many as five compact cars in India in the next five years to ensure that they surpass the other two Germans that are expected to extend their lead over Mercedes convincingly in 2012. Mercedes’ bigger goal is being the head of the pack by 2020 globally.

The first of the compact cars is what we’ve already discussed – the B-Class is a “Sports Tourer” arriving here before Diwali and Mercedes’ second compact model could be the production version of the Concept Style Coupe that expected to begin its journey next year in other countries. Mercedes is keen to offer three body styles in India – hatch, sedan and SUV – between 20-25 lakh rupees.

Mercedes Benz will have five members in its small car family, the German auto maker’s chairperson Mr Dieter Zetsche told reporters in India recently. Mr Zetsche was in Chennai to commission the commercial vehicle plant that manufactures trucks under the Bharat Benz brand.

The final nail had been hammered into the coffin for the Maybach brand after it recently announced its exit from the automotive industry next year.

Maybach

The demise of Daimler’s luxury arm may have been cause by either the car’s close resemblance to the S-Class or the lack of badge snobbery for such stratospheric prices, but since the relaunch in 2002, Maybach has been unable to set the ball rolling, reporting losses year after year to parent company Daimler.
