From the front the Hover H7 resembles the 2007 VW Touareg and when you come to the rear, it is a clear copy of the new Renault Koleos. The Hover H7 is Great Wall’s biggest SUV yet. It is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged engine with 215 hp and 324 Nm torque paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.

While I would love to stand back and take a laugh at a copied design, personally I think it looks pretty decent. It doesn’t look out of proportions or weird.

We should get used to listening the name of Great Wall Motors very frequently because ICML (the makers of the MUV Rhino) are planning to introduce the Great Wall Haval H5 in India very soon.

In China a company named Jinan Qingqi Motorcycle Corporation produced the three-wheeled version of the Alto (800 in India) briefly in the 90′s. The ‘Qingqi Alto Trycicle’ was manufactured with a 125cc, 12KW motorbike engine, CarNewsChina says, is “powerful enough to outrun a goat.” The central front wheel could not have grabbed more eyeballs than its 75-80k rupees starting price.

Three-wheeled cars are very popular in rural China and many car companies, despite stability issues at high speeds that pose serious safety concerns, continue to manufacture them. They serve as economical workhorses for traders in the week and double up as a family car on the weekends.

Sadly rural Chinese customers will have look in other places, as Jinan Qingi has moved on from the Qingqi Alto Trycicle to make handsome looking motorcycles.

A Tuk Tuk is essentially a 3-wheeled auto rickshaw which is a popular people mover in the Asian countries. It gains its name from the distinct ‘Tuk Tuk’ sound that the engine makes when revved hard.

Unfortunately, the Tuk Tuk that are planned to be launched in Europe will not make any such sound (or clouds of white smoke) because they will be fully electrified. The company plans to launch a 3-seater, a 6-seater and a cargo version in all EU countries, priced competitively in between 11,000 and 14,000 Euros.

According to the company, the electric tuk tuks can do a distance of 70-80 kms on one charge because they have been fitted with the biggest battery that the company could lay their hands on.

Prototypes of these vehicles have been running up and down on the streets of Amsterdam for over a year now and the company is now seeking partners for sales and distribution of the vehicle.

The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado was launched in India with a diesel heart last year. Drivers appreciated it for its off-roading ability, show it any terrain, and it’ll take up the challenge with a smile.

But there are limitations to what a car can do even if it’s a Land Cruiser Prado. If you see a dry patch of land with bumps, gravel, mud, sand, steep inclines and even tiny craters, then yes, you can use your Prado to conquer with speed and skill.

But if there’s a 10 foot deep trench or ditch filled with water waiting to swallow elephants, you’re better off with a boat or a hovercraft, as this man found out.

Maruti Suzuki India has teamed up with ibibo.com to produce an online serial. The team of directors, actors and technicians would be selected through an online voting system by ibibo.com members.

Aspiring writers, directors and actors would have to post their work/credentials on the website and netizens would pick the best talent to work for Maruti-ibibo’s online serial. A total of 8 actors, 2 directors and 2 scriptwriters would be selected through this exercise.

Why has Maruti suddenly jumped into producing online B-serials (B for budget!)? Is Maruti Suzuki becoming tired of increasing threats from its competition and planning for an alternative business or is this just a “novel” idea to increase the popularity of the already popular brand.

We hope this attempt by Maruti doesn’t end up in the same basket as the ‘Swift Guiness Record attempt’ did.

No! This is not another case of a small hatchback catching fire! This is just a ‘fiery’ paint job on the Chevrolet Beat created by a Portuguese school kid, Jose Rocha, a participant in the 2010 Young Creative Chevrolet (YCC) Contest. This contest was organized to recognize young talents in school.

Participants had to redesign the exterior of Chevrolet Beat in the best way possible to exhibit the cheeky, sporty nature of the Chevrolet Beat. This ‘Sparkling’ Beat was chosen by the jury as the best representation of the Chevrolet Beat.

To honor the young boy, Chevrolet would release its World Tour Car Championship (WTCC) version of the Beat in this paint job. The WTCC Beat/Spark comes with a 1.4 liter turbocharged engine that produces a mammoth 140 bhp.

Would GM India at least bring limited editions of this ‘Sparkling’ Chevrolet Beat like it did with the Denim Chevrolet Levi’s Beat?

Tata Motors has two roofless versions of the Tata Nano doing rounds inside Tata’s Sanand factory. The two Nano’s with their roofs chopped are used to ferry visitors at the Sanand plant.

The ‘yellow’ and ‘silver’ roofless Nanos have side stickering and sidesteps (we wonder why), which don’t really make a difference. The hub caps on the cars looks good too. The seats sport rich pitch black covers.

The Tata Nano’s roof, B- and C-pillars have been chopped off completely; as the Nano is a mix between a body-on-frame and Monocoque design, the removal of the roof would affect the rigidity of the frame greatly, as long as the base frame is untouched.

Would Tata Nano launch the world’s cheapest convertible? Highly unlikely. We think the Nano convertible’s chances in India are slim, even if its prospects are exciting (would be easy to get out in case of a fire! ).

This roofless Nano you see here will join the family of roofless Indigos and Wingers used to ferry guests around Tata’s plants.
