India Yamaha Motor has delisted the Yamaha R15 V2.0 from its Indian website.

The Japanese bikemaker launched the Yamaha R15 V3.0 at the Auto Expo 2018, for a price of INR 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). However, the company continued the sale of the Yamaha R15 V2.0 despite the launch of Version 3.0. It is usual for Yamaha to sell older models, as the company still sells the YZF-R15s (first generation model) in the domestic market.

The Yamaha R15 V2.0 employs a 149 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled FI engine paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine produces 16.8 bhp of maximum power 8,500 rpm and 15 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm. The motorcycle has a fuel tank capacity of 12 litres and tips the scales at 136 kg (kerb weight).

The introduction of the Yamaha R15 V3.0 had resulted in lower demands for the R15 V2.0. The R15 V3.0 is successfully accepted by masses as the company shipped 7,847 units of the motorcycle in June 2018. This week, the company launched the Yamaha R15 V3.0 MotoGP Edition, which should boost sales during the upcoming festive season.

The 2018 Yamaha R15 V3.0 sources power from an all-new 155 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled FI engine that is capable of pumping out a maximum power of 19 bhp at 10,000 rpm and a peak torque of 14.8 Nm at 8,500. This engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission with a standard slipper clutch. The R15 V3.0 is the first motorcycle in its segment to feature VVA (variable valve actuation).

The India-spec Yamaha R15 V3.0 uses a Deltabox frame to suspend the engine as a stressed member, while suspension components include 41 mm front telescopic forks and a link-type adjustable rear mono-shock. Anchorage comes from 280 mm front and 230 mm rear disc brakes. Apart from the MotoGP Edition, the bike is available in two paint schemes - Thunder Red and Racing Blue. The R15 V3.0 tips the weighing scales at 139 Kg.
