A Tata Harrier prototype that was spied yesterday revealed new details of the front-end. Incorporating those changes, IAB’s automotive illustrator Shoeb Kalania has created an updated rendering of the Tata Harrier’s front-end this morning.

Tata Harrier front rendering (updated)
The Tata Harrier has a two-tier front light setup that is a trending feature among global SUVs.

The new rendering shows the Tata Harrier featuring headlamps with exposed lenses, each of which has a new design. The new front light housing has chrome surround for a premium look and a more subtle impression of the Tri-Arrow pattern that every new Tata Motors PV will have beginning with this model. Also worth noting is the new upper grille pattern, which is identical to that of the Tata Nexon.

The Tata Harrier is the company’s first model designed using the IMPACT Design 2.0 design language. Tata Motors says that the flagship SUV will have exciting proportions, large wheels in a segment-leading size for a purposeful stance and a strong road presence, clean and uncluttered surfacing and new signature design cues, such as the aforementioned Tri-Arrow pattern at the front, Diamond shaped windows and slingshot line on the sides.

Underpinning the Harrier is the Jaguar Land Rover’s D8 platform, which Tata Motors modified for cost-effectiveness. Reports are rife that Tata Motors has inked a deal with FCA for using the 2.0-litre MultiJet II turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine in the Tata Harrier and the Tata H7X, its 7-seat version that is reported to follow 18 months later. The 5-seat version will get the engine in the 140 PS version, while the 7-seat version will employ a more powerful, 170 PS version. We expect 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission choices and a 4WD option in both new SUVs.
