2019 Ford Territory (Hyundai Creta rival) exterior fully revealed, specs leaked

The 2019 Ford Territory is one of the 5 upcoming cars that the American manufacturer plans to launch in China by 2025. The upcoming SUV will be positioned between the EcoSport and Kuga. Here are a handful of exterior images and specs of the Hyundai Creta rival.

The Ford Territory is based on the JMC Yusheng SM330.

The 2019 Ford Territory will be manufactured at JMC (Jiangling Motor Company)'s Xiao Lan plant. In essence, the Ford Territory is a reskinned JMC Yusheng SM330 crossover. It features a unique front-end and minor design differences on the sides and the rear. It shares its underpinnings with the Landwind X7. It has a similarly bold stance.

On the inside, the Hyundai Creta rival has a distinctive steering wheel, a touchscreen infotainment unit, leather upholstery and an all-digital instrument console among other differences. The switchgear gets a piano black finish. The features list will include bits like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, voice control for the infotainment system and remote start system.

Powering the Ford Territory is JMC's JX4G15C5L 1.5-litre petrol engine that offers a maximum power of 142.76 PS (105 kW). The engine can propel the new SUV to a top speed of 178 km/h or 188 km/h (depending on the configuration). Fuel consumption is rated at 6.3 L/100 km or 6.7 L/100 km similarly. The new Territory measures 4,580 mm in length, 1,936 mm in width and 16,74 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,716 mm, which is 4 mm longer than that of the JMC Yusheng S330. The top-spec trim gets 18-inch wheels shod with 235/50-section tyres. The lower trims get 16-inch and 17-inch rims shod with 215/65-section and 235/55-section tyres respectively.

The Ford Territory is currently a China-only model. However, the high demand for low-cost SUVs in India might push Ford India to launch the Hyundai Creta rival.
