According to a report on Financial Express, the New Maruti Ciaz (facelift) will continue to undercut rivals - the Honda City, the Hyundai Verna and the Toyota Yaris - on price. With the outgoing Ciaz, Maruti maintained an INR 6,000 price difference between the entry-level models of the Ciaz and Verna, an INR 1.04 lakh difference with the Honda City and an INR 1.02 lakh difference with the Toyota Yaris.

2018 Maruti Ciaz facelift bookings open
The 2018 Maruti Ciaz is reported to launch on August 20.

Maruti's premium dealers, NEXA, have started accepting bookings for the 2018 Ciaz for a deposit of INR 11,000 ahead of its reported August 20 launch. The updated sedan gets LED headlights and LED daytime running lights, a new grille, redesigned bumpers, 'premium' machine cut 16-inch alloy wheels and new LED rear combination lights.

Inside, the 2018 Ciaz will sport a lighter faux wood trim for its dashboard coupled with a new color multi-information display, and other 'convenience' features. The more significant change lies under the hood, as the 2018 Ciaz petrol gets an all-new 1.5-liter K15B VVT four-cylinder petrol engine capable of 103 bhp and 138 Nm of torque. Not only is this a more powerful engine than the outgoing model's 1.4-liter K-series engine, but is also better at conserving fuel, reports say. The 2018 Ciaz petrol with a 5-speed manual gearbox delivers 21.56 km/l and the Ciaz petrol with a 4-speed automatic returns 20.28 km/l mileage, according to reports.

There won't be any immediate change to the 2018 Ciaz diesel which will continue with a Fiat-sourced 1.3-liter DDiS four-cylinder unit with 89 bhp and 200 Nm of torque, however, later in the year, Maruti is reported to upgrade this decade-old engine with a modern BS6 compliant 1.5-liter diesel engine. The new diesel engine is developed by Suzuki in-house and will find its way to more Maruti Suzuki products in the months to come.
