TVS XL 100 i-Touch Start with new features launched at INR 36,109

TVS Motor Company has launched a new variant of the TVS XL 100 in India. The new TVS XL 100 i-Touch Start moped costs INR 36,109 (ex-showroom Delhi). The TVS XL 100 is the highest-selling TVS model in India with around 75,000 units dispatched every month.

The TVS XL 100 i-Touch Start sits above the Heavy Duty variant of the XL 100. The variant gets a new electric starter motor and a new paint scheme. Also, it gets new LED daytime running lights and a USB phone charger. The XL 100 serves a target audience of local businesses and rural markets.

The XL 100 i-Touch Start features a new split seat, which can be removed to accommodate extra luggage on the moped. The XL 100 i-Touch Start comes with a new purple paint scheme and is also available in existing colours like Red, Green, Grey, Blue, and Black. The moped is INR 2,450 more than the Heavy Duty variant and INR 3,350 over the base XL100 Comfort variant. The XL 100 i-Touch Start is available alongside the TVS XL Super and the TVS XL Super Heavy Duty across TVS dealerships in India.

Powering the TVS XL 100 is a 99 cc, single-cylinder engine that is capable of pumping out 4.3 bhp of maximum power and 6.5 Nm of peak torque, mated to a single-speed gearbox. While the power figures are mediocre, the engine does its job well without any issues. The moped gets a top speed of 60 kph, along with a claimed fuel efficiency of 67 kmpl.

Telescopic front forks and dual hydraulic rear shock absorbers perform the suspension duties. Drum brakes take care of braking responsibilities at both the ends. The TVS XL 100 i-Touch Start weighs 80 kg.

TVS mopeds with 50 cc to 100 cc engine bandwidth have served as a practical workhorse since the launch in 1980. While the Honda Cliq comes close, the XL 100 doesn’t have any direct competition.
