The 2019 Mercedes GLE’s global testing of its standard variants is reaching an end, ahead of its official release this year. Using the latest details revealed by spy media, IAB’s automotive illustration specialist Shoeb R Kalania has depicted the next-gen Mercedes GLE in a rendering.

The next-gen Mercedes GLE will ride on the MHA platform with new four- and six-cylinder engines.

More horizontally-positioned headlamps, an oddly curvaceous greenhouse, squarish wheel arches and sleek-new tail lamps will form the principal design elements of the Mercedes GLE’s exterior as it departs to the fourth generation.

The executive SUV's interior should have more extensive changes, with a completely redesigned dashboard, centre console, instrument cluster, door panels and probably every fundamental element. The new generation model will likely feature the dual-display setup for the instrument cluster and infotainment system, touch-sensitive buttons, Energizing comfort control and semi-autonomous driving technologies among other goodies from the latest Mercedes-Benz models.

The fourth-gen Mercedes GLE (formerly Mercedes ML-Class) will ride on the MHA rear-wheel-drive platform. Mercedes-Benz should offer it with a wide range of new four- and six-cylinder engines.

The six-cylinder engines will come with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. The ‘EQ Boost’ starter-alternator that combines a starter motor and alternator in an electric motor generates power for this system. It lies between the engine and transmission. Mercedes-Benz has said that it will offer at least one EQ Boost variant in every model series.

A plug-in hybrid option variant is likely, while a range-topping AMG 63 variant is a given in the final installment of variants. The next-gen Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 will sport a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8.
