It has been two months since the new Honda Amaze went on sale across India, and Honda Cars India Ltd has announced a recall for 7,290 units manufactured between 17 April 2018 and 24 May 2018.

Recall issued as there is a possibility that customers of the affected units might feel its steering to be heavier than usual.

The product recall is to inspect and carry out an update of the Amaze’s EPS (Electric-Assist Power Steering) sensor harness. According to the Japanese manufacturer, there is a possibility that customers of the affected units might feel its steering to be heavier than usual and see the EPS warning light turned on. HCIL will voluntarily replace the EPS column unit after inspection for free, if required, at authorized Honda car dealerships.

Owners of the new Amaze will begin to receive calls from respective dealerships from 26th July 2018 to bring their car in for inspection and replacement. Additionally, customers can also verify whether their Amaze falls under the recall by visiting a dedicated microsite on the company’s main webpage and entering their 17-character alpha-numeric Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

The new FY started off on a positive note for Honda Cars India with the second generation Amaze’s strong impact on the Indian car market, despite heavy competition from the Maruti Dzire. In June, Honda has dispatched 9,103 units to dealers across India, thus helping accumulate a total monthly sales of 17,602 units and registering a growth of 37.5 % year-on-year. So far, Honda has received over 26,000 bookings for its entry-level sedan.
