Recently, a camouflaged test mule of the Hyundai i20 Active be crossover was spied in South Korea, courtesy Ubin1024. The company seems to be testing a facelifted model, possibly for the Indian market.

The Hyundai i20 Active facelift features the same tail lights as the i20 facelift launched in India at the 2018 Auto Expo earlier this year in February.

The design of the glasshouse, blackened cladding throughout the length and roof rails and basically the entire shape reveals that this a Hyundai i20 Active test mule. It also seems to have a blackened C-pillar, which is another trait of the Hyundai i20 Active. At the rear, the overall shape and the round reflectors lamps and reverse light are same as that of the Hyundai i20 Active. The tail lamps are identical to the India-spec 2018 Hyundai i20.

Hyundai revealed the Euro-spec 2018 i20 Active in April. Akin to that model, the number plate has moved up from the bumper to the tail gate. It gets an updated bumper with new faux skid plate and redesigned tail lamps with LED fixtures as well. Hyundai has introduced a two-tone colour scheme in which the roof is painted in Phantom Black colour.

In May, the Hyundai i20 Active was listed on the official India website with minor updates. These included the addition of a new blue and white dual tone paint scheme, silver finish front fog lamp and rear reflector surrounds and black rub strip at the base of the boot lid. The dashboard features a revised button arrangement flanking the touchscreen identical to the i20 facelift's, updated seat upholstery, and new Alps blue interior highlights to complement the blue and white dual tone paint scheme.

Currently, the Hyundai i20 Active uses 1.2 L Kappa Petrol and 1.4 L U2 CRDi diesel engines. The petrol engine, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, outputs 83 PS and 11.7 kgm. 90 PS and 22.4 kgm are the power and torque figures, respectively, for the diesel engine that pairs with a 6-speed manual transmission

Hyundai may be preparing to launch the i20 Active in India this year. However, there has been no official announcement from the company yet. Hyundai does not sell the i20 Active in its home market so, the possibility of its launch in South Korea as a crossover positioned below the Kona cannot be ruled out.
