A spy video of the Hyundai AH2 (new Hyundai Santro) has been shared on Rushlane's YouTube channel. The video captures two test mules of the upcoming Hyundai hatchback undergoing testing close to HMIL's facility in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu near Chennai.

The video shows two test mules of the Hyundai hatchback finished in white. The camouflage ensures much of the exterior remains hidden. The hatchback will feature Hyundai's signature cascading grille along with high mounted fog lamps. This particular example, like multiple test mules sighted in the past, features steel rims with wheel covers. There's a slight kink in the window line right behind the B-pillar.

The company recently conducted events to preview the Hyundai AH2 to select customers. As per the information shared by one of them, the car features a Grand i10 like steering wheel with audio and phone controls. The power window controls are located between the front seats behind the gear lever. It also gets seats with fixed headrests, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and rear wiper. The cabin will be finished in a combination of black and beige. It will not be available with a touchscreen infotainment system.

As per reports, the hatchback will revive the Hyundai Santro nameplate in India. However, the company is yet to confirm the name. Referred to as Hyundai AH2 internally, the hatchback is based on the now-defunct Hyundai i10's platform. While engine options and specifications of the new Hyundai Santro remain under wraps, the company has confirmed that it will receive a 5-speed AMT as an option.

Hyundai will launch the new hatchback in August 2018. It will be priced around INR 3-5 lakhs (ex-showroom) according to estimates. Rivals of the AH2 will include Tata Tiago, Maruti Celerio, and Maruti Wagon R. It will be positioned below the Hyundai Grand i10 and may even act as a replacement for the Hyundai Eon.
