Following their debut in November last year, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler 2-door and 2018 Wrangler 4-door have finally reached India, spy shots posted by MotorBash have revealed. The latest development suggests that the Jeep Wrangler in the classic 2-door version is finally headed to our market.

The Jeep Wrangler is currently unavailable in the classic 2-door format in India.

Moving to its fourth generation, the Jeep Wrangler has retained the traditional Jeep design cues that make it instantly recognisable. It continues to be offered in multiple door, top and windshield combinations.

Key design changes introduced in the latest Jeep Wrangler include a more rakish windshield for improved aerodynamics, fixed A-pillars, keystone-shaped front grille with gently swept back top portion, tweaked LED headlamps, DRLs forming a halo around the outside perimeter of the headlights, repositioned forward turn signals (on the wheel flares) and tweaked tail lamps - also with LED lighting.

The interior of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler is also not a major departure from its predecessor in terms of looks. The dashboard is still upright and basic, the air vents are still round in shape and the overall layout is the same. Jeep has added a lot of new features, though, such as a configurable 7-inch TFT LED driver information display, passive keyless entry, push-button start, Uconnect 4C NAV 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone automatic climate control and more.

The Jeep Wrangler is still a body-on-frame SUV and it continues with solid axles to be a highly capable off-road vehicle. The fourth generation model offers industry-leading approach angle (44°), breaker angle (27.8°), departure angle (37°) and ground clearance (277 mm).

The Sport and Sahara variants have the Command Trac 4x4 system featuring a part-time, two-speed transfer case with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio. A new Selec-Trac two-speed transfer case with full-time 4WD mode is optional in the Sahara variant. The Trac-Lok limited-slip differential is also available in both the variants. The Rubicon variant is equipped with the Rock-Trac 4x4 system, which features a two-speed transfer case with a 4:1 low-range gear ratio. It features all-new Dana 44 heavy-duty axles, Tru-lok electric front/rear locking differentials and electronic sway bar disconnect as well.

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler is available with two petrol engines. A new addition to the line-up is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol unit, which produces 270 hp and 400 Nm of torque. It comes with a mild-hybrid system called ‘eTorque’ that improves fuel economy, launch performance and driver comfort during start/stop operations. A new 8-speed automatic transmission is standard in the 2.0-litre petrol engine model.

The second petrol engine is the familiar 3.6-litre naturally aspirated unit, tuned to deliver 285 hp and 352 Nm of torque in the new generation model. It is available with a 6-speed manual transmission or a new 8-speed automatic transmission. It features Engine Start-Stop (ESS) as standard now.

A 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 unit that develops 260 hp and 598 Nm of torque will join the engine line-up in 2019. It will come linked to an 8-speed automatic transmission. It will also feature ESS as standard.
