A video showing the exhaust note of the upcoming Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 has surfaced online. Instead of the trademark thump, there is a meaty twin-cylinder rumble which sounds really aggressive.

The Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 will be the brand’s performance flagship motorcycle in India. Its smaller brother, the Continental GT 535 has been discontinued. Coming back to the GT 650, the motorcycle has an engine capacity of 648 cc with air and oil cooling. The SOHC, 4-valve unit’s compression ratio is 9.5:1; and the engine comes with a 270-degree crank with a balancer shaft to smoothen out vibrations. The powerplant mates with a new 6-speed transmission with a slip-assist clutch. Royal Enfield says that the motor is capable of allowing the motorcycle to cruise at 120-135 kmph without breaking a sweat.

Siddhartha Lal earlier revealed that the Continental GT 650 will be relatively more comfortable than the GT 535. This could make the bike a bit more livable for daily use. The motorcycle employs telescopic front fork and twin gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear. A 320 mm front and a 240 mm disc come with dual-channel ABS as standard. Tyres include 100-section front and 130-section rear Pirelli Sportscomp units. When launched, the Continental GT 650 will be the least expensive twin-cylinder café racer in the country.
